Phil M: Top Albums of 2014

Baton Rouge, LA

Last year, I made two mistakes. I underrated an album that I loved that came out very late in the year (Beyonce), and I overrated an album that came out early but that I’d stopped listening to as the year wore on (Vampire Weekend). I won’t make that mistake again.

01D’Angelo and The Vanguard: Black Messiah

New D’Angelo. How does it feel? It feels great! I love the St. Vincent record, and I love the Angel Olsen record, and I love the Run the Jewels record, etc, but, in its brief life, nothing’s made me FEEL so much as this D’Angelo record. This is so clearly the best one, it’s ridiculous.
