I am a lifelong fan of Eddie Fisher and remember it well when he did this Coke show. I had the pleasure of spending an evening with him (plus a few friends of his) approximately in 1980 (give or take a few years) at the Newport Hotel in North Miami Beach. (I was a friend of Vic Jarmel's) He performed at the hotel and was fantastic. I think I'll look up his music on Amazon.

Fascinating interview...love the eclectic and world music intertwined with the recording and performing. A good interview that reveals a portrait of an engaging musician.

Just wanted to state for the record that a spammer tagged this post with this amazing GSH lyric: “It’s a mass of irony for all the world to see – It’s the nation’s capital, it’s Washington D.C.” Thanks, spammer!

Great stuff - have to agree with about the Louis Armstrong being the best version. But they all have something going for them. Thanks for posting, and I hope you find your way back to the blogsphere.
