Lauren S: Top Albums of 2012

Brooklyn, NY

I dunno what’s happened to me lately but I am increasingly bored by indie and inspired by hip hop… as the list reflects. Beach House barely made it in and Ab-soul should probably have made the cut

Standout Track(s): Hands on the Wheel; There He Go; Druggys wit Hoes

08Fiona Apple: The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do

not that i love her so much as i think it’s a very solid album through and through

07El-P: Cancer for Cure

honorable mentions

I struggled to love complete albums this year, especially Twin Shadow (5 Minutes; Golden Eye); sad about Big Boi’s album but still love “Thom Petty” (that ho); Also shout out to Ab-Soul’ “Control System” – way smarter than Schoolboy Q, but had to choose Q cuz I like ratchet; Also intrigued by Tame Impala and Grimes

similarity to overall top ten: 48.5%, 5 matches
